True! Love! Wait!

The 17th and 22nd of February 2019 are two of the great events of my year! It was a great privilege to be able to share the message about True Love Waits to the young people in our church and school.

We came up in this message because we feel the need of teaching our young people about true love, sex, and God's will.  Purity is our main theme. As the appointed speaker, I divided the topic into 3 segments. The TRUE for true love. The LOVE, the meaning of love and its great examples. The WAIT, waiting for God's will and having self-control and saying NO to premarital sex.

Here is the glimpse of how the message goes.

TRUE.

No greater love than the love of our God, our Creator, because God himself is love (1 John 4:8). From the day of creation He already showed His love to us when He made us in His own image (Genesis 1:27) and He treated us as His own children. God breathed into us His Spirit that makes us live. He gave us the gift of free will that allows us to candidly love him, obey him and serve him. He created us with a purpose and that is to live for Him to reflect His glory (Colossians 1:16). God's greatest love was shown when He gave His life for us on the cross. His unconditional love remains up to the present and until the end of the age.

Though the man misused the free will and sinned before God (during the time of Adam and Eve), the purpose why He created us did not change. Human is still the most precious and wonderful in the eyes of God. Human sinned many times before God, but God did not give up on us. He did not give up on you! Through Jesus Christ (God became flesh, John 1). God knows we need a savior, and He became our Savior. Jesus died for us! But He rose again because He is God.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! Romans 5:8-9

The heart of God is that all man will be saved and will not perish. When Jesus gave His life he washed away all the impurities in us and gave us another opportunity to live for His glory. He wanted us not to sin again because it is His deep desire to give us a life that we as God's people deserve to have. The love of God is the greatest and truest, and His love to us is brought about by His never ending grace.

Let us manifest our love to God by using our free will properly and according to His will. God is always giving us doors to get closer and closer to Him that we may eternally be saved and be secured for all things in life and received what He have just promised to us. 

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plan to prosper you and not to harm you. Plan to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

LOVE.

What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Psalm 8:4 

Is it impossible to love someone whom you know loves you truly? Is it difficult to love God who loves and values you? It is right to put God in the least knowing that He is the only one who can give you the unconditional love and salvation you need?

Many people are still taking God for granted, but God is commanding us to value Him first, love Him first and love Him above all. 

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than this. Mark 12: 30-31

God is the source of love and without God it is impossible to know what true love is.  If you have learned from the source, you will learn the best and it will help you a lot in loving yourself, the unlovable and loving other people as we love ourselves.

True love is unconditional and for that, our God, Jesus Christ is our best example. We might have been in pain and heartaches, but true love can washed it all. As we grow old and know God, he will open our minds and hearts to understand the real meaning of love through His Word.

WAIT.

Love is a gift from God. It is a will of God that we love each other.  There are different kinds of love and the most common kind of love that builds the society is through marriage. God designed marriage and sex. He honors marriage and wanted it to be pure just like His original plan. He created us in His likeness that we may reflect His character and glory even in the aspects of marriage and sex. Say no to premarital sex, adultery, and sexual immorality.

Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Hebrews 13:4 

Exercise your free will properly. Always consider the will of God first. How to know what is the will of God? Seek the Word of God and pray. From choosing the person that you would admire and would like to become a partner, know what is pleasing to God. Take time to pray for that person and do not go ahead of God but be patient to wait for His answer. Trust Him. Choose to follow what God wants for you rather than follow your own will. Entering in courtship and relationship is crucial. First, ask guidance from the Lord so He may give you wisdom in every decision you make. Then it is also helpful to have your parents and mentors to guide you.

God knows who will be the right one for you. As you wait for the right person continue working in your relationship with the Lord and maintain purity. Be involved in church and seek His WORD. Get closer to Him through love and obedience and surely He will let you know the the perfect time. Do not rush things for everything is beautiful in God's time.

It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,
1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
