Matthew 18:6-9 Reflections
☘️These verses want to show how God rejects sin. God hates sins, but he loves the sinners. He came to earth to save, us, the sinners from death cause by sin and gave us the gift of eternal life. (John 3:16, Romans 6:23)
☘️ Do I literally have to do something bad on my self or to others who have caused me to sin as Matthew 18:6 says? Or remove the part of my body that is causing me to sin?
You may misinterpret it. We know Jesus often used parables. I pray that all of us who are reading this today (children, youth, and youth then) will be given wisdom by God in this regard.
I believe, it does not mean that we have to do such bad things to our selves or to other who have caused us to stumble or literally remove the part of our body that causes us to sin. It only wants to give emphasis that your soul is more important than your body.
As it is written, What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? Matthew 16:26
☘️ What we should do about this?
Remember this, God is patient with us, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
We should repent and surrender to God.
If your eyes are sinful, turn to God and ask His forgiveness. Ask God to rule over your eyes and open your spiritual eyes to see His good and perfect will.
Sin vs Eternal Life
☘️ Man by nature is GOOD because God made us holy and good. God created us in His image (Genesis 1:27).
He has given us so much potentials. He also gave us the free will to worship and love Him. This is God's design --- we are for eternal life.
Although God's plan is wonderful, sin has entered our lives because of Satan. Satan is the king of sin, the only one who prevents us from drawing close to God. He is the one who prevents us from achieving eternal life. 😟
For the Holy God who has no desire but for our salvation, He is deeply saddened and hurt every time we choose to sin or allow ourselves to be tempted. Sin will only separate us from God and will lead us to hell.
Sometimes we do not intentionally sin, especially when we are not aware of it. Sometimes we don't really want to do it. In any case, we need to repent and apologize to God and turn away from it.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
☘️ Ignorance of sin is still sin. So let us always pray and study the Word of God so that we do not sin against Him.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11
☘️It is important to God that we maintain a sanctified life to overcome the temptations of this world and not be a reason to tempt and test others as well. (Matthew 18:7)
☘️ Remember that even though sin forces us to turn away from God, God continues to make a way for us to return to Him because He loves us. He loves you no matter how many sins you have committed.
☘️Allow God to rule your life. God is ready to forgive and change your life and lead you out of sin.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
☘️Because God created us for Him, none of us and even any part of our body is for sin! Let us not cause anyone to stumble but help one another to enter life entirely.
God bless us all! 💕
All glory belongs to God. 🙌
🙏Prayer:
Heavenly God, thank you for your Word. I admit that I am a sinner. I bow down before you today and asking for your forgiveness and mercy upon me. I supposed not to live as a sinner because you have created me for your glory. Please teach me your ways and rule over me so I will be able to use every part of my body and all my life only for what is good and pleasing to you. By your abounding grace, I will overcome each day. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
